While some roses stand the test of time, others wilt before the Neil Lane engagement ring can be resized.
The Bachelor premiered on ABC in March 2002 with Alex Michel dubbed the world’s most eligible Bachelor. More than 20 women competed for his heart and one of the most successful reality TV franchises was born. The following year, The Bachelorette debuted.
Since the show’s initial premiere in 2002, 47 men and women have been named the Bachelor or Bachelorette. Brad Womack remains the only star to lead the series more than once, but in 2020, the reality series shocked viewers with an epic twist as Tayshia Adams was called in to replace Clare Crawley during season 16 of The Bachelorette.
Us Weekly confirmed at the time that producers were left “scrambling” after the hairstylist quickly fell head over heels for contestant Dale Moss. Less than two weeks into filming, the duo left as an engaged couple, leaving Tayshia to carry on with the remaining suitors.
Tayshia accepted Zac Clark‘s proposal at the end of the season, but the pair called it quits in November 2021. Clare and Dale, meanwhile, briefly split in January 2021 before ending their engagement for good in September of that year.
After more than 20 years on air, Tayshia and Clare’s messy splits aren’t the only twists that have surprised fans. Scroll down for an update on where every Bachelor and Bachelorette lead are today:

He currently resides in Washington, D.C. and works as a media industry executive. Amanda, who is engaged to her longtime love Chris, told Us exclusively in July 2020 that Alex is married with kids.

“My wife Angye and our two younger daughters live in Springfield, Missouri. Our oldest daughter lives in Kansas City. This has definitely been a busy year for us!” Aaron told Us exclusively. “We just finished building our home and merged our family owned bank with Legacy Bank and Trust here in Springfield. We have been incredibly blessed. I continue to remain out of the ‘spotlight’ and continue to focus on my career and family life. I appreciate and cherish the memories I have from my days on The Bachelor. Subsequently, I have had the opportunity to take part in some things I wouldn’t have gotten to do otherwise.”

Andrew got down on one knee during the season 3 finale of The Bachelor in 2003 and proposed to Jen Schefft. The pair split several months after the finale aired and Andrew went on to marry Ivana Bozilovic in 2008. The couple share three kids. More than a decade after his season aired, the former ABC star told Us Weekly exclusively that he’s never been happier. “All is good here. Ivana and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary this past summer. Somehow she is still putting up with me! All the kiddo’s are doing great, Brooks, Anja and Shane keep us busy running around to soccer/ballet/gymnastics/music/etc!” he explained. “Work is going really well and the company I co-founded, StonePark Capital, is completing construction on our 5th hotel in San Luis Obispo, California, to open in January of 2019.”
He added: “I have bit more grey hair, I work harder for my bikini body, my wife and kids started a rumor that I snore at night … but I don’t think I have been happier in my life.”

Colton Underwood
Underwood and Cassie Randolph briefly split during the fantasy suites episode of The Bachelor season 23, but the former NFL player sent home both Tayshia Adams and Hannah Godwin to fight for the speech pathologist’s affection. Randolph and Underwood confirmed they were together during the finale.
In May 2020, the couple announced via Instagram that they had decided to split, but will remain friends. Two months, later, their breakup turned messy after Cassie made an appearance on The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons — Ever. Colton, for his part, expressed concern that she wasn’t honoring their plan to keep their breakup private, while Cassie accused him of being hypocritical as he planned to write a new chapter of his book about their split. By September 2020, the twosome were on even worse terms when Cassie filed a restraining order against Colton, accusing him of stalking and harassing her via text messages.
A judge extended the restraining order to November 6, 2020, after their first hearing, but Cassie later dropped the charges.

I’m extremely happy. It feels so good to be able to say that and I’m just very hopeful for the future. … I am very, very happy with this one.”

Matt James
The season 25 Bachelor ended his relationship with winner Rachael Kirkconnell while the show was airing in 2021 after she made headlines for her past racially insensitive actions, including resurfaced pictures of her at a party on a plantation.
“It broke my heart, because this is the last conversation I thought we’d be having. I didn’t sign up to have this conversation,” Matt told Rachael about their split during the After the Final Rose special in March 2021. “And I knew that I had to take a step back for you to put in that work that you outlined that you needed to do. And that’s something you gotta do on your own. And that’s why we can’t be in a relationship.”
While Matt previously ruled out any plans to get back together during his post-show interviews, he confirmed in May 2021 that they were officially on after being spotted together several times the month prior.

During the live After the Final Rose special, however, she revealed the duo had called it quits. Jen went on to marry Joe Waterman in 2009. The pair, who share daughters Mae and Charlotte, reside in Hudson, Ohio. “I grew up outside of Cleveland and my husband is from Cincinnati, so we decided to move home to be closer to family,” Jen, who is a stay-at-home mom, told Us Weekly exclusively.
“People still come up to me and ask about the show quite a bit, which always surprises me!” she continued. “It’s been 15 years since I was on the show, and I can’t believe people still recognize me. People are always so nice and it’s fun to be a small part of pop culture. … I loved my experience on the show and everything it brought into my life, but I’m a much happier person being out of the public eye. Jillian got engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Justin Pasutto, in 2016, and they share two kids: Leo and Annie. “It’s been almost 10 years since I’ve been on the show and so most of the PTSD is gone,” Jillian joked exclusively to Us. “It was such an incredible experience even if it wasn’t ’successful’ i wouldn’t change it for a thing. I learned so much about myself and relationships that still applies to my life today.”
“Its also hard not to connect my current career situation to the Bachelor. I had a great job prior to going on the show, but I do believe that much of life and career today would be much different if I hadn’t taken that chance. I LOVE love working on the website www.jillianharris.com, I love inspiring others, being in a position to give back to charity and also be in a career where i’m able to be super creative,” she continues. “I also was able to stick in the television industry with my role on Love it Or List it, Too, which is also a dream. Yes, I’ve worked hard and loved hard to get to where i am today both professionally and personally, but I often look back and wonder…. what If? Two beautiful children, a handsome dog, a hunky fiancé and a dream job. Is life perfect? HECK no … but I have a ton to be grateful for and i owe a slice of that to the Bachelor family and experience!”

I’m even lucky enough that I get to make a living blogging about motherhood, which I’m beyond grateful for. None of this would’ve happened the way it did if I hadn’t gone on that show. JP, for his part, detailed his symptoms during a December hospital stay: “Things you do every day, like picking up this phone, or buttoning buttons, tying shoelaces, putting on deodorant, just can’t do it. Picking up my kids, can’t do it.” He was discharged on December 9, 2019.
In October 2020, the couple announced they had split after nearly eight years of marriage. “It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that, after months of separation, Jp and I have amicably decided to go our separate ways,” Hebert captioned a photo of the couple slow-dancing on Instagram. “We created the most beautiful children and shared memories that will never be forgotten. Our differences have taken a toll on our relationship and after years of attempting to repair the damage, we’ve decided that it is in our family’s best interest to create new and separate lives for our children. She released her second book, Single State of Mind, in 2018.
“Life after The Bachelorette has been a wild ride for me. People often ask if the show was good or bad for my life and without hesitation, I always say good,” Andi told Us exclusively. “I know had it not been for The Bachelorette I wouldn’t be living life in New York City and being able to say that I am an author working on my third book. And as each season goes on, I may feel a little older but feel proud and grateful to have been part of a show that has so many devoted fans and is still beloved by so many people.”
Andi added that she still speaks to “a lot of people from [her] season,” former host Harrison and a lot of fellow Bachelorettes. “Between the 13 of us, we’ve built a nice, supportive community that I didn’t expect but definitely cherish,” she explained. “Fan encounters are interesting because living in New York the vibe is less fanatic and people are too busy or in too much of a hurry to stop you, but my parents, who live in Georgia, still get people that will recognize their last name or recognize them from being on television, so I think in a funny way they are more of the stars than I am.”
In June 2020, Andi announced via Instagram that she made to move from NYC to Los Angeles. After reconnecting with an old friend named Blaine Hart in Italy during summer 2021, the pair started dating. He proposed on the beach in L.A. in March 2022. The following May, the duo tied the knot in Italy, the same place where they reconnected two years prior.

Kaitlyn Bristowe
During the season 11 premiere of The Bachelorette, the men met both Kaitlyn and fellow season 19 Bachelor contestant Britt Nilsson. The contestants then voted for Kaitlyn to be the lead for the season. During the finale, both Shawn Booth and Nick Viall got down on one knee, but Kaitlyn accepted a ring from Shawn. The pair moved to Nashville and started their lives together offscreen.
Fan speculation that the couple called it quits surfaced in summer 2018, but Kaitlyn, who hosts a podcast titled “Off the Vine,” and Shawn, who opened up a gym in Nashville, did not announce the end of their engagement until November 2018. Due to the fact that the pair were together more than two years, Kaitlyn was the first woman from the franchise who got to keep her Neil Lane engagement ring after the breakup even though she did not marry Shawn.
The former Bachelorette confirmed her relationship with fellow Bachelor Nation star Jason Tartick in January 2019. Months later, the duo — who exchanged “I love yous” in April 2019 — moved in together in Nashville and announced they adopted a dog. They adopted a second pup in December 2019.
In June 2020, Kaitlyn confirmed that she and Jason picked out an engagement ring before she left to film season 29 of Dancing With the Stars. Almost a year later, the former banker finally popped the question during a May 2021 “Off the Vine” recording session.
“It was everything I could have asked for,” Bristowe told Entertainment Tonight. “The words that came out of his mouth were insanely beautiful. We’ve never locked eyes like that in our lives. We were holding hands, so intense, and I was listening to his every word, but still blacked out.”
The duo announced their split in August 2023. “Continuing our friendship is incredibly important to both of us,” they wrote in a joint social media post at the time. “We feel grateful to be ending our engagement with love and respect for each other. It’s heartbreaking and sad to say goodbye, but our care and admiration for one another will never die.”

JoJo Fletcher
JoJo accepted a proposal from Jordan Rodgers during the season 12 finale of The Bachelorette in 2012. The twosome moved to Dallas together, but as of January 2019, have no concrete wedding plans. In November 2018, JoJo, who recently launched a clothing line, told Us exclusively that she and Jordan would consider having a televised wedding.
“I would never say no, never, but I think it’s very important that, if it was a televised wedding, that it stays true and organic to us,” she explained. “We would never do a wedding that was just filled with a bunch of Bachelor people that we don’t even know, because that’s not us. But, if we could have it the exact way that we’d want it to be, and allow people to see it as well, then I would say yes.”
After Jordan re-proposed in August 2019, the Cash Pad stars told Us that they plan to wed in June 2020. Their nuptials were postponed, however, amid the coronavirus pandemic. Fletcher and Rodgers finally wed in May 2022.

Rachel Lindsay
Rachel and Bryan Abasolo got engaged during the season 13 finale of The Bachelorette in 2017. “It’s, like, we’re either going to have this 500-plus wedding that we want, or it’s going to be super small,” Rachel said of the duo’s nuptials in December 2018. “So I’m going to hurt a lot of feelings, but I’m going to have the wedding that we want, surrounded by the people we love the most and I want to do it as soon as possible. I don’t want to put off a wedding because I’m planning something big for everybody else.”
The twosome ultimately tied the knot in August 2019 in Mexico. Rachel, who splits her time between Miami and Los Angeles, works for Extra and hosts the “Higher Learning” podcast with Van Lathan. In January 2022, she released a book titled Miss Me With That: Hot Takes, Helpful Tidbits, and a Few Hard Truths.
Bryan filed for divorce from Rachel in January 2024 after four years of marriage and requested spousal support. Rachel said at the time that she would “eventually” share further details of the split but for the moment was “trying to take it day by day.”

Becca Kufrin
Becca accepted a proposal from Garret Yrigoyen during the season 14 finale of The Bachelorette in 2018. The couple told Us exclusively in December 2018 that they have no plans to tie the knot yet. “No dates, no months, no venue,” she said at the time. “The only thing that we’ve talked about that we want are food trucks. I want a great taco truck and a ton of Skee-Ball machines so everyone can just play games.”
In August 2019, the pair moved to San Diego together and adopted a Corgi puppy named Miss Minno.
The twosome made headlines in June 2020 after Becca and Rachel recorded an emotional podcast about the Black Lives Matter movement, in which they discussed Garrett’s public support for police.
“For those who are curious about my relationship with Garrett at this point, all I can say right now is I don’t know,” Becca said in June 2020.” I can’t give anything more than that. It’s something that we are trying to work through and discuss and do work on at home at this time and that’s where the work will remain and that’s really the best can give you at this point.”
Three months later, Becca confirmed that the pair went their separate ways. “After many conversations, we came to this decision. It wasn’t something that we just arrived at one night,” Becca explained on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast. “It wasn’t based solely off of one Instagram post or somebody else’s opinions or comments. There’s much more to it. To any relationship, there’s a lot of layers, and it’s not for me to divulge details. It’s no one’s business other than what I’m telling you right now.”
Becca returned to ABC for season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise and met boyfriend Thomas Jacobs. Becca proposed to Jacobs in May 2022 after less than a year of dating. Five months later, Thomas popped the question to Becca during a beach trip to Ojai, California.
The duo announced in April 2023 that they were expecting their first child. Their baby boy was born in September 2023. One month later, the twosome said “I do” at a San Diego courthouse.

Hannah Brown
The former pageant queen, who was the 15th Bachelorette, broke off her engagement to winner Jed Wyatt during the July 2019 finale after learning he had a girlfriend at home. While she briefly rekindled her relationship with runner-up Tyler Cameron, who was spotted leaving her Los Angeles home in August 2019, Hannah shifted her focus to winning Dancing With the Stars in September 2019 when she was named a contestant on season 28. Hannah and partner Alan Bersten took home the mirrorball trophy during the November 2019 finale.
Hannah went public with model boyfriend Adam Woolard in February 2021. She published a memoir titled God Bless This Mess: Learning to Live and Love Through Life’s Best (and Worst) Moments in November 2021. In August 2023, she announced her engagement to Woolard after more than two years of dating.

Clare Crawley
The hairstylist’s unprecedented season 16 journey came to an early end after she fell in love with Dale Moss when there was still 16 men remaining. During a November 2020 episode, Harrison gave Clare and Dale one-on-one time and she ultimately broke things off with the other suitors and accepted a proposal from Dale (and Tayshia Adams took over where Clare left off.)
In November 2020, the pair announced via Instagram Live that they recently celebrated three months together and were house hunting in Sacramento, California. Their happiness was short-lived, however. Clare and Dale ended their engagement in January 2021. “We appreciate the love and support we’ve received from so many people, but this is the healthiest decision for both of us at this time,” Dale wrote via Instagram at the time.
A month later, Us exclusively revealed that the twosome are back together after they were spotted holding hands in Florida. Less than one year after giving things another shot, Us confirmed in September 2021 that Clare and Dale split again. One year later, Us revealed Clare was dating a man named Ryan Dawkins. He proposed in Las Vegas in October 2022. Clare and Ryan wed in February 2023.
Clare announced via Instagram in July 2023 that she and Ryan are expecting their first baby via surrogate. “Our laundry is about to get a whole lot cuter in 2024!!” she captioned a video of the couple putting a onesie on a clothesline that read, “Worth the wait.” Clare confirmed her daughter’s arrival in January 2024. “She’s here!” she wrote via Instagram, sharing a photo that showed her hugging Ryan in a hospital room.

Tayshia Adams
The former phlebotomist took over for Clare after the hairstylist accepted a proposal from Dale during season 16. After meeting the remaining 16 suitors — and four additional contestants — Tayshia found love with Zac Clark, an addiction specialist from New Jersey. She accepted his proposal during the December 2020 finale. The twosome subsequently revealed their plans to split time between the East and West Coast.

Katie Thurston
The season 17 star got engaged to Blake Moynes during the August 2021 finale. The twosome split their time between his native Canada and her home in San Diego after filming wrapped. The Washington native announced in October 2021 that they called of their engagement.
“It is with mutual love and respect that we have decided to go our separate ways. We are so grateful for the moments we shared together and the entire journey that has unfolded this year, but we ultimately have concluded that we are not compatible as life partners, and it is the most caring choice for both of us to move forward independently,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “We ask for kindness and privacy as we both navigate this transition. Both of us will forever want the best for one another and ask you to please support us in our decision.”
Less than one month later, she started dating John Hersey, who she sent home during week two of her season. After the pair moved in together in early 2022, Katie and John announced their split that June. He referred to the breakup as “not an easy” decision to make.

Michelle Young
The teacher accepted Nayte Olukoya’s proposal during the season 18 finale in December 2021, later telling Us exclusively that he “instantly” fit in with her family outside of the Bachelorette bubble. At the time, the pair hinted that they were planning to get married “in the near future” after the sales exec relocated to Minnesota.
In June 2022, however, they revealed that they called off their engagement.

Gabby Windey
The season 19 co-lead got engaged to Erich Schwer during the September 2022 finale. While the twosome didn’t reveal too many details of their future plans at After the Final Rose, Gabby jumped right into season 31 of Dancing With the Stars. In November 2022, the twosome called it quits less than two months after their engagement aired on ABC. After sparking romance speculation with DWTS costars Vinny Guadagnino and Alan Bersten, Windey found love with writer Robby Hoffman.

Rachel Recchia
After accepting a proposal from Tino Franco during the September 2022 finale, the season 19 co-lead accused her fiancé of cheating on her. While Tino admitted he kiss another woman while the show was airing, Rachel believed more happened. They confirmed their split at After the Final Rose.

Charity Lawson
The season 20 Bachelorette accepted a proposal from Dotun Olubeko during the finale, which aired in August 2023, and revealed that they plan to wed “sooner rather than later.” Charity is competing on DWTS season 32.
